Itasca, IL
project 1:
Collection & office relocation, lighting relocation & 2nd floor renovation.
10,000 sf / $660,000 final project budget|cost
scope:
After completing a Master Plan for the library, product architects completed the first phase of a renovation project at the Itasca Community Library. Level 2 of the library was previously underutilized, partly due to openings in the floor. These openings were filled in to add 1,000 SF of usable space. Staff offices were relocated to level 2, the non fiction collection was condensed, 2 study rooms were added, and the café & AV collection were moved upstairs. The result is a dynamic place for people to eat, study & read that previously did no exist in the library.
The collections were relocated on level 1, allowing patrons to navigate the library better and for more light to enter the building from existing windows. Additional adult seating & youth activity areas were created. A majority of the existing lighting was relocated with new accent lighting added to highlight new spaces. Future project phases will include new carpet and furniture.
